About Wind Mitigation Florida
Wind Mitigation Florida publishes plain-English, sourced guides on Florida wind mitigation inspections and 4-point inspections: what each one checks, what they cost, how the OIR-B1-1802 form works, and how they affect a Florida homeowners insurance premium. Homeowners who want to move forward can submit an enquiry and we pass their details to a licensed inspector serving their county.
Wind Mitigation Florida is an independently operated information resource. It is not a government agency, an insurance company, or a home inspection company, and nothing on this site is legal, engineering, or insurance advice. We connect homeowners who submit an enquiry with independent, licensed inspectors serving their area; we do not perform inspections ourselves.
How we source what we publish
Every figure and rule cited in our guides links directly to its source: the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation's OIR-B1-1802 form, Florida Statutes 627.0629 and 627.711, the Florida Department of Financial Services' consumer guide on hurricane loss mitigation discounts, and Citizens Property Insurance's public policy pages. Where a cost figure comes from a third-party pricing source rather than a state document, we say so and link it. We update guides when the underlying form, statute, or pricing data changes.
What we are not
We are not a government agency, an insurance company, or a home inspection company, and nothing on this site is legal, engineering, or insurance advice specific to your property. An inspection you request through our form is performed and priced by the independent, licensed inspector who contacts you, not by us.
